Solitude, from the Latin Solitudo, or alone. It's a word often associated with loneliness but truly means a state of being alone or in an uninhabited place. Such uninhabited places can be mentally or physically. Solitude, from the Latin Solitudo, or alone. It's a word often associated with loneliness but truly means a state of being alone or in an uninhabited place. Such uninhabited places can be mentally or physically. I believe solitude is as much spiritual as physical, hence the feeling of being all "alone" while meditating or kissing a loved one in a crowded place. It's a word I've always loved and find my photographs often gravitate toward moments of solitude, both conceptually and literally.
